Children & Adolescents

While working with children and adolescents, I focus on providing a safe and trusting environment in order to create a place where my clients can freely express themselves.  I often utilize alternative forms of dialectical therapy, such as art and play therapy.   When indicated with parental consent, I will work collaboratively with schools, teachers, and allied professionals in order to evaluate and treat difficulties that might be occurring in multiple settings.

Working with children and adolescents in a therapy setting requires a special sensitivity and understanding of their development levels.  While earning my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I received a specialization in Child and Adolescent Development.  I also hold over 9 years of experience working with children and adolescents with crisis intervention, trauma, and family dynamic issues.  Some areas addressed in child & adolescent therapy include:

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a wonderful time to reflect on both interpersonal and intrapersonal issues.  As a therapist, I work with my clients to promote self-growth and self-actualization.  I engage with my clients to facilitate insight into their lives by exploring the past, the present, and looking to the future.  Some areas that are addressed in individual therapy include:

Couples Therapy

    Relationships between two individuals can be delicate in nature, often requiring additional investment.  Couples therapy is a helpful tool in restoring, repairing, and strengthening that bond within the relationship.  During couples therapy, I focus on creating a safe place in order to generate open and honest communication.  It is within that safe place where I can work with couples to strengthen intimacy, increase positive communication, enhance connection, and create and maintain a greater understanding within the relationship.  Some areas addressed within couples therapy include:

    Family Therapy

    Families are created by a unique system of intertwined relationships.  An issue within one family relationship often affects the entire family system.  By engaging in family therapy, many families have found ways to increase their communication skills along with strengthening the bonds between family members.  When working with families, I focus on creating a safe and trusting therapeutic environment in order to explore current problematic family issues to ultimately promote positive communication, build and restore trust, and strengthen family relationships.  Some areas addressed in family therapy include:
